H&J attorney Rachel Dahl presented on a panel discussing “Estate Planning with Farming and Non-Farming Heirs” at the 2018 Practical Farmers of Iowa (PFI) Conference on January 20th in Ames, IA. Also on the panel was Bonnie and Vance Haugen, PFI members from Springside Farm in Canton, Minnesota.
During this presentation, the Haugens told their story of turning over the day-to-day management of their grazing dairy operation to their son Olaf and what they are now planning for him and their non-farming children in their estate planning. Rachel provided her expertise to their situation and provided feedback about other issues and strategies they (and you) might consider.
