Hellmuth & Johnson is pleased to announce that attorney Steven R. Liening has been named a 2023 Up & Coming Attorney by Minnesota Lawyer. The annual listing honors lawyers who distinguish themselves in their first 10 years of practice through professional accomplishment, leadership, and service to the community and the legal profession.
Liening is a member of the firm’s litigation practice group. His practice focuses on construction disputes and real estate litigation. He has also worked on personal injury cases, defamation, and trust disputes. He enjoys serving clients from diverse communities, as he lived abroad for several years and worked as an Arabic translator for the U.S. Army and speaks several languages, including German, French, and Pashto. Liening served 2007-2012 in the U.S. Army as a noncommissioned officer and Arabic cryptologic linguist. He served one year in Kandahar and Zabul provinces of Afghanistan, participating in dozens of missions. His awards include a combat action badge and two army commendation medals.
Liening is also an accomplished musician who has performed in venues throughout North America and Europe, including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Tabernacle at Temple Square in Salt Lake City, and Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna.
