When did you decide you wanted to be a lawyer?
I was most inspired by Denzel Washington’s portrayal of Joe Miller in the film Philadelphia. His eloquence and genuine care for his clients were qualities that I aspired to having as a lawyer.
What would you be doing if you weren’t a lawyer?
I would be in the shrimpin’ business.
What do you like best about practicing law at H&J?
I enjoy working with a group of attorneys and staff that are not only dedicated to their clients but also care deeply about the advancement of the law. The lawyers at H&J work as a team to be at their best for the people whom they represent, and live and work by the firm’s motto: “On your side. At your side.” I am also proud that the firm is committed to the community at large through the H&J Foundation.
What is your favorite Twin Cities restaurant?
Broders. It’s not quite Italy, but it’s close enough.
What advice would you give to the young version of yourself who is just entering law school?
Don’t be afraid to fall flat on your face while practicing in law school. It’ll only help you have better balance when it counts in the courtroom.
