Hellmuth & Johnson partner Blake Nelson was named “Real Estate Lawyer of the Year” at the Minnesota Real Estate Journal’s 2022 Real Estate Awards. The award recognized Nelson’s numerous accomplishments in the real estate industry from the past year, which included representing clients in more than $500 million of construction and real estate transactions, where he acted as the lead attorney for developers, sellers, buyers, borrowers and contractors on a wide range of deals. He was also elected to the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Subcontractors Association (MSA). The MSA is a non-profit trade association representing construction industry specialty contractors and suppliers. MSA is the only association that concentrates on the business issues affecting all subcontractors and suppliers with a focus on safety, education and legislation reform. Members include both union and non-union firms from every specialty construction trade.
Nelson has been a partner with Hellmuth & Johnson since 1999 and is the Chair of the firm’s Construction Law Practice Group. He is also a Real Property Law Specialist certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association, and focuses his practice on the unique legal needs of contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and commercial real estate owners and developers.
