Moss has been appointed by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to his Cannabis Advisory Council, serving as a representative of an expert in women-owned businesses. The Cannabis Advisory Council tracks national cannabis policy, examines effectiveness of state policy, monitors developments in the cannabis and hemp consumer industries, reviews developments in the study of cannabis, takes public testimony, and makes recommendations to the Minnesota Office of Cannabis Management.
Moss is at the forefront of the rapidly advancing and evolving cannabis industry and its laws in Minnesota. She serves as chair of H&J’s cannabis law practice group and represents start-ups to well-established businesses from cannabis growers to retailers. She also serves as a board member of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) – Minnesota Chapter, where she has spent years advocating for and working to advance women who are at every point of their journey in owning a business. She understands the evolving complexities and challenges involved in representing businesses in this arena, provides representation in local legislative matters, and regularly presents seminars and webinars on the topic.
Moss also served on the Advisory Board for MN is Ready Coalition – the organization that worked with legislation authors for the recently passed adult-use cannabis legalization legislation. The Advisory Board reviewed input from industry insiders before making recommendations to legislators. She provides pro bono services as general counsel to the board for the Minnesota Cannabis Grower Cooperative and Industry Council, which serves hemp and cannabis farmers and processors across Minnesota along with other members of the cannabis industry.
She was also appointed by the Minnesota Supreme Court to serve on its Advisory Committee for the Rules of Civil Procedure. This advisory committee is responsible for monitoring the rules and making recommendations to the Supreme Court on changes affecting civil matters in Minnesota’s legal system.
