In what area of law do you practice and why did you choose this?

Complex Litigation, Consumer Protection and Antitrust Class Action.

When did you decide you wanted to be a lawyer?

When I was a junior in college and had the opportunity to complete an externship with Judge Michael Kirk (Minnesota Court of Appeals) for college credit.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a lawyer? 

Head Groundskeeper for the Minnesota Twins at Target Field (I have my resume ready to submit to Larry DiVito – current MN Twins Head Groundskeeper).

Tell us about a mentor who made an impact on your career.

I had a college football coach who emphasized perseverance leads to success, which I have found very helpful in my legal career.

What is the best career advice you have received?

Go for it.

What is the strangest legal question you have ever been asked?

I took a deposition of a Hall of Fame NBA basketball player who sat on a financial institution’s board who asked before the deposition began, “Do we really need this many *$^&(%# lawyers in the room?!” Not sure if that is considered a legal question, but it was a valid one.

What is your favorite Minnesota Lake?

Clearwater Lake (Clearwater/Beltrami County).

What is your favorite Twin Cities restaurant?

Hands down…Manny’s.

When you are not working, what would people find you doing?

Enjoying time with my wife and two young daughters, likely at a hockey arena.

What is a recent good book you read?

Becoming – Michelle Obama.

What might people be surprised to know about you?

That I am not very good at completing an attorney spotlight questionnaire.

What is your strongest asset?

My willingness to stand up for what is right.
