MNGI Digestive Health (“MNGI”), a company headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, recently provided data breach notice letters, dated July 15, 2024, to its patients confirming it suffered a data breach of its digital environment, in which an unauthorized third-party cybercriminal gained access to approximately 765,000 patients’ sensitive personal information on its networks. Upon realizing that a data breach had occurred, MNGI engaged a specialized cybersecurity firm to investigate the nature and scope of the data breach. The investigation determined that the unauthorized cybercriminal gained access to personal protected health information including: your name, date of birth, Social Security number, medical information and health information.
Recognizing the deficiency in its cybersecurity and the seriousness of the highly sensitive personal information involved in the data breach, MNGI has taken remedial steps to secure its patients’ data. MNGI has subsequently enhanced the security of its digital environment in an effort to minimize the risk of a similar incident occurring in the future. MNGI is also now offering access to 12 months of identity protection services at no charge.
