Attorney Spotlight: Amanda Linden

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Growing up I wanted to be a paleontologist or an archaeologist.

When did you decide you wanted to be a lawyer?

I decided to attend law school after volunteering for a political candidate while attending undergrad at DePaul University in Chicago. Such volunteer work peek my interest in learning the law and being the change you want to see in the world.

What would you be doing if you weren’t a lawyer?

If I were not an attorney, I would go back to school to become an Egyptologist.

What is the strangest legal question you have ever been asked?

If I wanted you to murder someone with me, would you not be able to rat me out due to attorney-client privilege?

What is an item on your bucket list?

My bucket list includes seeing all the 7 (New) Wonders of the World.

What is your favorite vacation spot?

Anywhere you need a passport to go!

What is your favorite Minnesota Lake?

My favorite lake in Minnesota is Lake Minnetonka. Second favorite lake would be the entire chain of lakes, especially those on the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway System!

What is your favorite Twin Cities restaurant?

My favorite Twin Cities restaurant is Fat Lorenzos.

When you are not working, what would people find you doing?

When I am not working, I like to spend time with my daughter, practice yoga, be on the lake whenever possible, go to museums, and watch documentaries and oh so very lovely trash TV.

What is your favorite part of practicing law?

My favorite part of practicing law is when I volunteer and I am able to give advice to a person, even if it is only a five minute conversation, that impacts his or her life for the better. I enjoy using my legal knowledge to help someone who otherwise would not have the financial means to hire an attorney. Often it is those individuals who need you the most.

The Notorious RBG.

What is a recent good book you read?

Invisible Man, Ralph Ellison

What might people be surprised to know about you?

My body lacks the enzyme to metabolize alcohol.

What is your strongest asset?

Organization.

If you have an out-of-town visitor, what are the “must see/do” things in the Twin Cities?

I take out-of-town visitors to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, Lake Calhoun, and the 5/8 Club which hands down has the best Juicy Lucy in town!
