Heidi J. Bassett
Heidi Bassett is a tough litigator and a trusted advisor, adept at balancing her clients’ legal needs with corporate objectives and financial realities. She is a litigation and appellate attorney at Hellmuth & Johnson, specializing in business, banking, real estate and construction. Prior to joining the firm, Heidi established herself as a leader in business and banking litigation throughout Florida. She is an experienced trial attorney and has represented clients in more than 200 appeals. Heidi currently represents clients in Minnesota and Florida.
Heidi has been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star for the past six years, was a recipient of the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell in 2018 and the AV Preeminent Judicial Edition rating from Martindale Hubbell in 2019. In 2017, she was invited by the Litigation Counsel of America to become a Fellow in the Trial Lawyer Honorary Society, an elite society comprised of less than one half of one percent of American lawyers. Heidi is a member of the Trial Law Institute and Diversity Law Institute.
Heidi obtained her J.D. from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is admitted to practice before all of the state courts of Minnesota and Florida, the United States District Courts for the Middle and Southern Districts of Florida, the United States Courts of Appeal for the Eighth and Eleventh Circuits and the United States Supreme Court. She earned her B.A. from the University of Minnesota.

- Successfully negotiated the settlement of a dispute between real estate developers in furtherance of the Minneapolis 2040 plan
- Represented essential services providers during the COVID-19 pandemic, guiding them through compliance with government regulations and best practices
- Wrote and edited Florida Foreclosure Law, a legal treatise in its fifth year of publication
- Represented business owners in partnership disputes and dissolutions
- Represented financial institutions in state and federal court litigation with a focus on foreclosure, credit cards and regulatory compliance
- Represented trucking company in multi-state litigation between Minnesota and Florida
- Successfully negotiated buyout of corporate shares in avoidance of impending litigation
- Represented landlords in commercial and residential landlord-tenant disputes
